Focus Areas

Eight areas of work through which we address climate-smart agriculture holistically, from research to fund management.

01

Research and Development

Scientific research on the impacts of climate change on agriculture.

We conduct scientific research on the impacts of climate change on agriculture. We develop projects on soil–water–land systems, biodiversity, crop genetics and innovative farming technologies (precision irrigation, digital farming sensors, etc.).
By collaborating with international research networks such as CGIAR, we support the transfer of new knowledge and technologies.
02

Capacity Building

Farmer training, seminars, certificate programmes and e-learning.

We raise the knowledge of agricultural stakeholders through farmer training, seminars, certificate programmes and e-learning courses. We train local experts (extension workers) in climate-smart practices and run field workshops.
Empowering women farmers and young entrepreneurs is a special priority.
03

Policy and Advocacy

Contributing to national and international climate–agriculture policy.

We contribute to shaping national and international climate–agriculture policies. We work with governments to integrate agriculture and food security into Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) processes.
We also advocate with governments and financial institutions to ease access to climate finance for agriculture.
04

Technology Transfer

Testing R&D results on demo farms and bringing them to the field.

Innovative farming technologies and irrigation solutions are tested on demonstration plots so that R&D results reach farms. Sustainable machinery and climate-sensitive versions of inputs such as seeds and fertilizers are introduced.
Pilot applications are planned together with private-sector partners.
05

Pilot Projects

Setting up and reporting on climate-smart agriculture prototypes in the field.

Climate-smart agriculture prototypes are set up under the association’s leadership: smart irrigation that raises yields and water-use efficiency in arid regions, soil management in flood-prone areas, micro-greenhouse applications and more.
Pilot projects let us report ease of adoption and impact with concrete data.
06

Monitoring and Evaluation

Participatory monitoring, evaluation and impact measurement.

A participatory monitoring and evaluation (M&E) system is used in all projects. Results are collected periodically and social impact is measured through farmer surveys.
Monitoring data is analysed to measure effectiveness and guide improvements; reports are prepared in line with national and international standards.
07

Partnerships

Multi-stakeholder partnerships with government, academia, civil society and business.

We develop multi-stakeholder partnerships with ministries of agriculture and environment, universities, research institutes, civil society and the private sector. We strengthen knowledge sharing through dialogue with global actors such as FAO, the World Bank and CGIAR.
We create joint funding projects and take part in international programmes such as Green Climate Fund (GCF) projects.
08

Funding and Grants

Project proposals for EU, UN and climate finance sources.

The association prepares project proposals for EU and UN funds and other climate finance sources. Members receive grant-writing training and advisory support.
Suitable financing opportunities are researched and coordinated for individual (especially smallholder) and institutional members.
